When: 8/14- 8/15-8/16 2019 8am-5pm *Indiana LEO’s will receive 24 hrs of ILEA training hrs.*
Where: 301 E Walnut Street Frankfort Indiana 46041. Officer’s will meet in the training room at the Sheriff’s Office at 8am on 8/14/2019. Please use the Harrison Street or East Lobby entrance. Parking available in the side and back lot of the Sheriff’s Office.

Purpose: This class is open to not only K9 handlers but also Patrol Officer’s wishing to be part of their agency’s K9 unit. Proper techinques will be taught in Sleeve, Muzzle and Suit work to allow K9 units to have more knowledge of aggression control work when preparing for real world street deployments.
Class description: The decoy techniques and training taught in this class will include the proper use and presentation of a hidden sleeve, a normal sleeve, a bite suit, use of line work in training and harness. The focus is on teaching the Handler/Officer how to be a decoy to lower the chances of both Officer and K9 injuries. This training will allow you to become a better decoy and help to build stronger canines for police work. Subject’s attending will be given information on reading canines during apprehension work and proper methods to motivate canines. You will also be taught how to build control, strength and confidence in both the canine and handler.
Instructor: The Lead instructor is the owner and operator of FM K9, Retired Elkhart County Sheriff’s Sergeant Michael McHenry. Mike is the Lead Trainer in Field Operations & Consultant for FM K9 in Niles Michigan, US Army Combat-Veteran has a BSA Criminal Justice – Minor Psychology, is a Master Trainer with NAPWDA in Utility, Narcotics, Explosives, Former SWAT Commander Over 20 Years Experience/ Extensive Canine Training and Tactical Training General Instructor with ILEA

This training Is open to the first 24 Officer’s to register, you do not need any equipment however please bring equipment such as Long lines, Harnesses, Muzzles, Bite Suit’s and Sleeve’s if you have them.
Registration closes once the school is full or 8/12/2019 at noon.

– A contact number for the Officer and their agency
– If they are a handler please provide the age and breed of the dog

Caution:
This is a physical demanding school attendee’s should be prepared to work both physically and mentally
during the training.

Our Training consists of:

  • Written Pre-Test
  • Weekly Written Quizzes
  • Written Final test (80% or higher is required to graduate training)
  • Oral Discussion and Explanation
  • Training Manual Covering Course Topics
  • Minimum of 40hrs a week in the field training with canine

Our Training Classes are:

  • 7 week class for dual purpose Utility/Explosive
  • 6 week class for dual purpose Utility/Narcotics
  • 5 week class Explosives only
  • 4 week class Narcotics only
  • Certification to North American Police Work Dog Association ( N.A.P.W.D.A.) standards is offered at the completion of class, with membership. Lead trainer, Michael McHenry is a narcotics, explosive and utility Master Trainer with N.A.P.W.D.A and can conduct certifications on site

Housing:

  • Housing for duration of training, (seven days a week) included in price of purchase of canine and class.

Canines:

  • Malinois, German Shepherds, Labs, Dutch Shepherds and specialty breeds
  • Green canine; no training at all. Canine possesses the genetic make up and qualities to successfully complete training in the time allotted
  • Pre-Trained Dogs – completely trained in your choice of: Utility Narcotics, Utility Explosives, Narcotics only or Explosives only (at the request of department/agency) – prices upon request

Our Canine Guarantee:

  • One-year health guarantee certificate issued with canine covering hips, back, spine, elbows and major disease or illness. All canines are x-rayed and cleared by a veterinarian prior to training
  • Health guarantee covers; hips, spine and elbows. All veterinarian approved on each canine before training begins
  • Six month guarantee on training after successfully completing our basic class
  • Free training offered at our facility for working life of teams trained by us
  • Online and phone consultations available for problem solving assistance for working life of teams trained by us

We recommend agencies select their canine(s), 30 days prior to the start of class which allows us to pre-train basic obedience, imprint narcotics or explosives and imprint tracking; preparing the canine for training.

We pride ourselves in training high quality social canine(s) for law enforcement, government and private security.

After the completion of training any team may return for training assistance or refreshers at no charge for the working life of that team.
